UK retail sales jump 5.7% in April: BRC

UK retail sales grew by nearly 6 per cent year-on-year in April this year, thanks to late start of Easter and a notable improvement in the country's economic activities.

According to fresh data released by the British Retail Consortium (BRC), the furniture & flooring category as well as children's clothing enjoyed particularly strong trading in April.

Global mobile satellite service provider Inmarsat has offered to provide a free global airline tracking service in order to prevent another Malaysian Flight 370-type tragedy.

Scottish economy continues to grow in April albeit at slowest pace in 2014

The Scottish economy continued to grow in April but the pace of growth slipped to slowest level to date this year, according to the Bank of Scotland purchasing managers' index (PMI).

The latest Bank of Scotland PMI revealed that growth in both services and manufacturing sectors but the pace of growth in output in the month under review fell from the previous three months of this year.
